BACKGROUND
Julia was educated in Manchester, formerly at Fairfield School for Girls and Hyde Sixth Form College. Going on to have a close brush with inventing Chaos theory in her final year at the University of Manchester while studying Biology, Julia went on to gain a First in the computing section linked to her degree course.
Interested in training in general and financial planning in particular, she worked for the Halifax Building Society as a Graduate Management Trainee for two years and then realised that she specifically wanted to pursue a career in technology and computing.
She undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Software Engineering with Birmingham Polytechnic, based at Lucas Engineering Systems in Shirley. She subsequently secured a post at Crisp Computing installing their LAPIS system and then went on to work for Scottish Amicable Life as an HR Consultant, forming part of a team of trainers responsible for software package training, Common Trading Platform, Product Knowledge and on-the-job assessments of Scottish Amicable staff and their appointed representatives.
Undertaking her Full Financial Planning Certificate (FPC) in ’93-’94, Julia worked for Scottish Amicable until 1996. In 1997 she came to work for GreenMarch and the rest, as they say, is history.
Julia is happily married to Richard, a software developer, and has two school age children, Jamie and Alys. Julia is an active member of an amateur dramatics group and enjoys knitting!
